On Wednesday October 31, Halloween day, JT LeRoy will be celebrating his 38th birthday! We can’t believe it either, but it’s happening — and we want you to come celebrate with us! Admirers of JT’s writing and his spirit are working together internationally to create a celebration that will be held on the JT LeRoy Facebook Page on Wednesday the 31st from 6 to 7 PM EDT. We’re hoping all of you will participate as well: Bring your videos, photos, illustrations, artwork, songs, and audio of you sharing the likeness of JT LeRoy — and of course Speedie! Laura in Scotland and Ireland

Laura is visting Scotland and Ireland, and we wanted to let all her friends know where and when she’ll be appearing.
First is the prestigious Edinburgh International Festival, at which Laura will be participating on August 21 for a talk with renowned psychotherapist and writer Susie Orbach.
Founded in 1947, the festival is a celebration of the creative arts internationally, and its Book Festival is holding this special event with Laura and Dr. Orbach on Monday the 21st, 3:15 pm at the Baillie Gifford Main Theatre (Charlotte Square Gardens, Princes Street, Edinburgh).
Dr. Orbach is the author of Fat Is a Feminist Issue, In Therapy, and other notable titles, and she will be joining Laura for a therapy-themed dialogue that will examine the development of the persona of JT LeRoy. It’s going to be a one-of-a-kind encounter, so be sure to come join them. You can learn more about the details of the talk HERE.
And there’s more action! On August 24 in Dublin, the Irish Film Institute will have a special screening ofAuthor: The JT LeRoy Story, followed by a Q&A with Laura and actress Paula Malcomson (Ray Donovan,Deadwood). That’ll be on Thursday the 24th, 8:00 pm at the Irish Film Institute (6 Eustace Street, Temple Bar, Dublin). That meeting of pals is sure to be a blast and we’re hoping all Laura’s and Paula’s friends will come to join them! More details on this event can be found HERE.
Guess who’s coming to Cork? On Friday August 25, Laura Albert will be speaking after a 7:30 pm screening of Author at the Triskel Arts Centre (Tobin Street, Centre, Cork). More than eyes will be smiling that night, don’t miss it! For further information, click HERE.

Laura’s piece with Jeremy has attracted a great deal of press attention – especially notable have been pieces in mashable.com and the UK Huffington Post. As you may have heard, Jeremy was refused admittance into the UK last month because of his criminal record. Laura and Steven Klein posted their statement in reaction to this injustice on Man About Town’s Instagram page and you can read it here.

Bay Area Appearances By Laura Albert!

May is the time for a pair of special events with Laura Albert in California’s Bay Area.

On Tuesday May 16 at 7 PM, there will be a special screening of Author: The JT LeRoy Story at The Battery in San Francisco — and Laura will be there for a Q&A with artist Dorka Keehn. You can read more about the event here.
 
Just across the bay, a few days later on Sunday May 21, Laura will be participating in the Oakland Book Festival at Oakland’s City Hall. She’ll be speaking with artist, educator, and writer Seumas Raibéart Coutts from 3:30 to 4:30 PM in the Council Chambers. All the latest details are available here. There’s plenty of good literary fun to be had for all – including this talk by The Rumpus about how to create real change in the literary community.
